A seven-seater Merc that's GOOD value? Mercedes GLB 200 review
The Mercedes GLB is an odd thing - it's a boxy SUV that sits lower down in the German brand's range, but it's unusual because it has seven seats. Join Rebecca Jackson for an in-depth review of the chunky GLB, including a look at its practicality, driving performance and - crucially - whether a 1.3-litre petrol is strong enough to whisk it along.

Got one at the moment as a courtesy car. It ‘ok’ for short journeys but my commute to work is about 23 miles each way mix of town, A and B roads, and motorway. I get 60 mpg without tying, it can do 70mph on the motorway it simply seems unhappy at that speed. I find the seating position the worst thing about it though, for me it’s too uncomfortable.

Something most of these reviews seem to ignore is the fact that the allgrip awd system beats out ALL of the other SUVs in the same class (apart from subaru) in both real world and roller tests. The transfer case when used in lock mode has the ability to effectively transfer 50% of the power to the back wheels. Something that cannot be said about the rivals, such as Toyota or Honda.

Bought one a few months ago, its a fab family car its great for the everyday but also adaptable for those trips away with the roof bars. Plus that 1.0 with the 6 speed is really great, bit of punch when you need it plus I get between 55-60 mpg on an A road and motorway driving. Id recommend the SEL trim as it has the digial dash just makes it feel expensive and modern. Best value family car in 2024 easily!

There's nothing British about the vauxhall apart from the name. The Peugeot, like all French cars will suffer from electrical problems. Starter motor, alternator, electric windows of fuel gauge, something WILL go wrong sooner or later. It always does......its French!

I've had the pleasure of hiring this car for a week and I must say I was really impressed! Only downside I noticed was the shifter would often get stuck in N when trying to reverse. It took at least 2-3 shifts to get into reverse, which isn't great. But ride comfort, practicality, quality and space was really impressive.

I brought a used 2018 x2 with B48 engine in 2023, it's an awesome car with some sophistication. Punchy engine, good looks, great on gas, sufficient feature list. Don't get repairs at dealer prices, it's horrid. My repairs have been due to the previous owner. But once they were taken care of I've had no issues after 30k miles since purchase.

Profit per litre about £2.99 including tax... the rest of the programme about how a car performs rubbish.

Gun to my head, I'd take the A3. The latest VAG cars seem to have forgotten what ergonomics means. Doesn't matter how fancy the infotainment system is if it's absolute crap to use. Life's too short to be fighting with a fiddly slider on a touchscreen at 70mph when you have an exit coming up in 100 yards, but to change the volume. How did the VAG group go from having some of the best in-cabin ergonomics + infotainment to one of the worst in the industry?

Very nice car, had one as a loan and I loved it, but didn't love all the heating controls being on screen...very difficult to sort that out while driving, proper dials are best for me personally. Also didn't like that I couldn't turn the lane steering assist off permanently. And I also don't like that in Rip Off Ireland, 2019 models are selling for 20,000 euro...way more (as usual) than UK prices.....**edit....note to self, watch before comment....the one i had was brand new model, just noticed the one you had did have dials......rushing out to buy one as we speak 😅😅

I’d go for the Corsa - the Peugeot’s interior is ghastly, and I have never understood the ergonomic disaster they’ve created with the silly small steering wheel / oddly placed instruments concept. Funny how no other car manufacturer has adopted it…….maybe because it doesn’t work!
